AAO International Scholar AwardIn 2011, during the annual meeting in Orlando, Mr Srinivasan was awarded the International Scholar Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in recognition of his lifelong commitment to learning. Mr. Srinivasan is the first eye doctor in Scotland to be awarded this prestigious award. This award is completed only by ophthalmologists that hold themselves to the highest standards of achievement and education. |

In June 2010, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) presented Dr. Sathish Srinivasan with their prestigious Achievement Award, an honor given to very few doctors. The American Academy of Ophthalmology is the largest organisation of eye surgeons (ophthalmologists) in the United States of America.

A woman whose sight was saved by a double cornea transplant has backed the Evening Times' call for a change to Scotlands's transplant laws to help others like her. Consultant ophthalmologist Sathish Srinivasan carried out the operation.

Mr Srinivasan first performed the operation which restored patients' sight in weeks, rather than the usual 12 to 15 months by using part of a donor cornea. This year, using a new surgical technique called automated superficial anterior lamellar keratoplasty (SALK), Mr Srinivasan and his team have succeeded in using a single donor cornea to restore sight in two different patients.
